Medical education and communication have been dramatically enhanced by the use of audio visual technologies. Recently, the emergence of digital imaging and 3-D CG visualizations have revolutionized procedures and techniques for obtaining and sharing valuable, potentially life saving information.
RazorCut's Jerry Caires has been engaged in medical media authorship since the mid 80's, when he created educational media for surgical residents while employed with Cine-Med, Inc., a Connecticut based medical media production firm. During his tenure, Caires filmed some, at the time, revolutionary new techniques which are routinely employed now. A few of these include Hypothermic Circulatory Arrest, Silastic Tissue Expansion and a myriad of Tissue Stapling Techniques pioneered by great surgeons and companies like Davis & Geck and Eli Lilly. Memorable procedures include a Siamese Twin Separation, Excision of a 25 lb. Tumor, and an Open Heart Procedure at the Texas Heart Institute with Dr. Denton Cooley.
Medical product demonstrations and community education have become the primary application for our medically oriented content creation. Although there's nothing 'entertaining' about medical procedures, precise documentation and effective communication are critical to successful outcomes in both educational and clinical settings.
Dental Implants as permanent tooth replacement fixtures were addressed in a pilot Public Television program in Alaska called, "Community Healthcare Today". The advantages and disadvantages were discussed to help potential patients become more informed about treatment options available to them.
